Maturity, experience, and wisdom are welcome at Re-Creation Unlimited. From RU’s beginning volunteers of “mature age” have added nobly to the service RU provides to the public, the parks, and especially to the “Young America Heros” internships.

Lou wanted to serve his Lord and his nation. So, following his military duties he went back to
college and to graduate school at Potomac University. He realized that one of the greatest ways to serve is to TEACH. So for 39 years Lou has taught junior high school students. He has served on the curriculum advisory for the State of California; the Creation Science Institute; written and published a book on classroom discipline (Delightful Discipline, or Humor in the Woodshed); a CTA wage negotiator; and currently volunteer chaplain’s assistant at the largest Prison in his State. Lou has also served every summer for the last 22 years as a Re-Creation Unlimited Senior Mentor in Oregon. Why does he do all of this? “To train and motivate the next generation to serve God and Country effectively is my highest goal. They can avoid my mistakes and learn from my successes. I enjoyed raising my own children, and have worked with a lot of terrific RU Young American Hero youth. I recommend this form of serving and sharing “side by side” with Re-Creation Unlimited. Where is it better than teaching and serving in the great out-of-doors?” Apply today.

Werner and Marainne come from Bavaria to volunteer some annual vacation time. He teaches safe hiking skills and Marainne loves to help “wherever.” The language? “We’re learning, and we love to help when we come to visit!”
